The Town of Prosper Parks & Recreation Department strives to provide active and passive recreational opportunities for all citizens of Prosper in an accessible and safe environment, while promoting the preservation of the Town's natural resources.

Youth Sports & Recreation

The Town of Prosper Parks and Recreation department has implemented a variety of afterschool and summer activities. No need to leave town for your recreational needs, we are bringing it to you.
Youth Tennis - 2022 Fall

These classes are a great opportunity to introduce your child to the sport of a lifetime! It's easy to get started, as rackets are available to borrow, no special tennis attire is required, and any kind of athletic shoe works. Prosper Tennis programs are led by top notch instructors and assistants: USPTA Certified Professionals David Gray - former UNT Head Coach and Nick Strohla - National USTA team qualifier. Our instructors and assistants are skilled, well-trained, and great with children of all ages and skill levels.

Beginner/Intermediate: 8/29-12/3

Youth Ages 5-8: Wednesday 5:15-6 p.m. & Saturday 10:15-11 a.m.

Youth Ages 9-14: Wednesday 6-7 p.m. & Saturday 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

Advanced Classes: 8/29-12/3

Ages 8-15: Monday 5:15-6:30 p.m. & Wednesday 6:45-8 p.m.

Adult Tennis - 2022 Fall

Tennis is everyone's game, regardless of prior experience or skill! Rackets are available to borrow, no special tennis attire is required and any kind of athletic shoe works. Programs are led by USPTA certified pros and are guaranteed to be a good time!

Chess Academy - 2022 Fall

Become a Chess Master! Students in this class are introduced to a lifelong game that stimulates the brain, promotes critical thinking, and is just plain fun! As the class progresses, additional topics, strategies, and ideas are introduced. Taught by Certified Coaches from the North Texas Chess Academy, each class consists of a concise chess lesson and supervised play with peers.

Introduction to Archery - 2022 Fall

Designed for the new archer, this class guides participants through the fun of picking up and learning to use a bow for the first time! Students gain confidence through a well-rounded introduction and are provided resources to explore the sport further. All equipment is included.

**Archers must be able to hold a 2lb - 4lb bow and pull a minimum 6lb - 10lb draw weight.

Babysitting & Child Care Course - Full Day - 2022 Fall

Come get your certification from the American Red Cross, the nation's leader in babysitting classes and child care training! This class will leave you prepared to become one of the most capable, trusted and in-demand sitters in your neighborhood. American Red Cross training provides value to you and also to the families you care for. Join us for a full day of training!

Minds In Motion - Cybercrawler Robot - 2022 Fall

Build and take home your very own CyberCrawler Robot!  This smart coding robotics kit entertains and teaches programming skills to inquisitive young future robotic engineers!  With the aid of your instructor, you will each assemble your own robot that consists of 76 pieces.  Once completed, a simple press-button programming keypad embedded on its cranium will send your CyberCrawler on its way!  You can design obstacles and maze courses with your classmates and see how far you can go.  With a maximum storage capacity of 64 tasks, your CyberCrawler Robot will be a terrific starter tool to learn the joy of coding!  This very cool robot’s LEDs illuminate as it executes whatever you command.  Come and join this fascinating and educational robotic experience!

Soccer Sparks - 2022 Fall

The Soccer Sparks philosophy is to develop a passion for soccer with fun and games without the stress of competitive play. USSF Nationally Certified coaches work with your child to maximize potential while emphasizing fair play and enjoyment of the game.

2-3 Year Old class

Parent & Child Soccer! By playing fun games children gain greater bodily control whilst enhancing their blossoming balance, coordination and general motor skills. Aside from learning how to dribble and strike a soccer ball, children and parents also get the early opportunity to share those first unforgettable, goal-scoring adventures.

3-4 Year Old class

The Soccer Sparks 3-4 year old class is designed to help kids develop their large motor skills and get them running, dribbling, and kicking the ball while having lots of fun. The kids learn the very basics of the game through skill demonstrations and games as they transition from parent to individual participation.

4-5 Year Old class

Dribble, kick and pass! The Soccer Sparks class for our 4-5 year old players is designed to teach all the proper techniques such as dribbling, passing, and shooting in a positive and fun environment and develop a lifelong love of soccer. Our curriculum includes fun and energetic games that teach kids about playing within a group.

6-9 Year Old class

Learn to dazzle with your footwork! This class for 6-9 year olds features an “all ball” approach which fosters skills improvement and builds player confidence. Emphasizing skill development and team play, coaches will introduce fundamental skills such as team work, dribbling, passing, juggling moves and accurate shooting.

8-12 Year Old class

Tae Kwon Do - 2022 Fall

Come join a local Tae Kwon Do community that is passionate about teaching skills that will improve self-confidence, concentration, physical endurance, flexibility, and discipline. Our teaching philosophy focuses on development of character as much as the capability to defend oneself!

Students will learn traditional techniques, including blocks, kicks, and hand strikes, as well as simple self-defense techniques, in a family friendly atmosphere. Classes are year-round and students advance at their own pace. 

A two-time Texas state champion in the Traditional Karate League, Sabunim (instructor/master) Brian Kirby has been practicing for 40 years. Master Kirby grew up in a dojang, having learned the art directly from his father.  His passion is to pass along his knowledge to the next generation!

Tae Kwon Do is offered at both Beginner and Intermediate levels. For those interested in the Intermediate class, you may sign up and be put on the waitlist. Approval is needed from Master Kirby. Bricks 4 Kidz - 2022 Fall

Session I: Engineering Adventures

Thursdays, 9/1-10/6, 4-5 p.m.

So you want to be an engineer or architect? Well what are you waiting for? This is your chance! Join us as we put our engineering skills to the test to build bridges, buildings, vehicles, and more. We’ll learn about different types of careers for you to explore. Do you like to design cities? You might become an urban architect one day! Do you want to build bridges? Then civil engineering might be the job for you! Want to design the next cool electric car? Then you may be destined to become an automotive or mechanical engineer! Come experience engineering adventures with us!

Session II: Construction Craze

Thursdays, 10/13-11/17, 4-5 p.m.

Put on your hard hat and head on over to our construction site! Make your own motorized models of tools of the trade from a hand-held power drill and power saw to a tough, all-terrain bulldozer and giant dump truck. Would you be surprised to learn that one of these objects has a history stretching from the Stone Age to the Space Age? And who thought of making a saw blade in the shape of a circle? Where does the word bulldozer come from? How big is the biggest dump truck? Build your knowledge of construction at Bricks 4 Kidz®! Dump trucks, jackhammers, drills, power saws… build motorized models of these and other powerful tools and create your own LEGO® construction site. Join us for lots of high-impact learning and fun!

Run, Jump, and Throw with Runner2Runner - 2022 Fall

This class encourages a lifelong love of track and field! Track and field training and competition are introduced in a safe, positive and supportive environment. Personalized, progressive workouts will establish and build athleticism and instill confidence in your child AND the workouts are fun! Learn age appropriate track and field events in a safe and  encouraging environment from certified, experienced running coaches. Games, proper breathing mechanics, form, etiquette, dynamic drills, and nutrition are all topics covered in the program. Class is led by Runner2Runner founder Melissa Hill who is a passionate coach and former collegiate runner who believes that in a supportive environment, anyone can improve at running and meet personal fitness goals! Teams are comprised of boys and girls (grades 1-5) for progressive training for athletes of all abilities. The fun and games in this program make it great for first time runners!

Adult Coed Kickball - 2022 Fall

Prosper Coed Kickball is a friendly, fun, recreational league. The 8-game season with playoffs will be played at Frontier Park Complex.  1551 Frontier Pkwy. Prosper, TX 75078.   

Registration will begin August 8  and will be through September 5 (or until league is filled).  First official game will be Sunday, September 18.  Cost per team is $300, due with team registration application.  Maximum number of teams for league is 10.
